Propecia

Propecia has been clinically proven to treatment hair loss. It is a prescription tablet that contains finasteride of 1mg, 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. This medication is for men only and cannot be used for women or children.

How It Works

Propecia works by lowering by lowering dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible to shrink hair follicles. Propecia prevents testosterone from rapid convert into DHT hormone, this prevents future follicle miniaturisation, stop hair loss, allowing the follicles to produce thicker and stronger hair.

Available Strength

Dose: 1 mg tablet once daily

Application

  • Take once daily or as prescribed by our pharmacist or your GP

  • Must be taken continuously

  • Results appear after 3–6 months, with full benefit at 12 months

Advice

This treatment MUST not be taken by children and women, whether pregnant or not. Male patient should inform our pharmacist if they have liver disease or are under any other medication. If condition worsens, stop treatment and speak with our pharmacist or your GP to support you with other treatment.

Finasteride Tablets

Finasteride stops the effective of DHT hormone (dihydrotestosterone) a follicle shrinking hormone. This prescription is give to men with enlarged prostate known as prostate enlargement (benign prostate enlargement). Dihydrotestosterone stop hair growth as well as enlarging prostate.

How It Works

Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor which treats androgenetic alopecia (male hair loss) and benign prostate enlargement (BPH). Finasteride treatment blocks dihydrotestosterone from being produced therefore reducing hair loss whilst shrinking prostate.

Application

Medication must be taken as prescribed by our pharmacist or your GP. This medication cannot be shared despite having similar condition for your own safety and safety of others.

Advice

This medication must not be taken by a women (especially if pregnant). Must not be taken from 18 years and below. Patient should inform our pharmacist if you have liver disease. It is advice to speak with our pharmacist or your GP before you discontinue treatment.

Hair Loss Treatments

Regaine

Regaine is an over the counter treatment that contains minoxidil, which helps to reverse androgenetic alopecia and help to stop hair loss whilst strengthening hair follicles. Regaine does not fully reverse baldness, what it does is that it moderates hair loss.

Regaine has been clinically proven to:

– Increase blood flow to the hair follicles
– Reverse miniaturisation
– Stimulate follicle to growing phase
– Prolong growth while strengthening healthier and stronger hairs with less hair loss.

Available Strength:
2% foam/solution
5% foam/solution

Increases sun sensitivity—use sunscreen daily. May bleach fabrics.

For Regaine foam type: spray a generous amount onto your hands, then massage it into your scalp.

Regaine Solution type: spray directly into the scalp however avoid spay from entering in eye.

Differin/Adapalene gel

Contains 0.1% adapalene, a retinoid that regulates cell turnover to prevent clogged pores and blackheads/whiteheads. Used for mild to moderate acne.
Use SPF 30+ daily. Avoid other harsh exfoliants. Not recommended during pregnancy. Requires prescription.

Erythromycin

A topical antibiotic for mild to moderate inflammatory acne that reduces acne-causing bacteria and inflammation.
Prolonged use may lead to bacterial resistance. Often combined with benzoyl peroxide. Requires prescription.

Co-Cyprindiol

A hormonal treatment for severe hormonal acne. Contains cyproterone acetate (anti-androgen) and ethinylestradiol (estrogen). Not a first-choice contraceptive.
Blocks androgen receptors, reduces sebum production, and shrinks sebaceous gland activity.
Requires prescription. Consult our pharmacist if no improvement after several months.

Treclin Gel

Combines clindamycin 1% (antibiotic) and tretinoin 0.025% (retinoid) to reduce bacteria, unclog pores, and prevent new spots.
Use sunscreen daily and avoid sunbeds. Don’t combine with other topicals at the same time. Avoid when pregnant or trying to conceive. Requires prescription.

Duac Gel

Contains clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide to reduce bacteria, clear pores, and decrease inflammation.
Use sunscreen daily. Avoid combining with retinoids at the same time. May bleach fabrics. Requires Prescription.

Acnecide

A benzoyl peroxide treatment for mild acne that kills bacteria, unclogs pores, and reduces inflammation. It does not require a prescription.
Bleaches fabrics. Use gentle moisturizer if irritation occurs. Use sunscreen during the day.
